Research

All-attosecond pump-probe spectroscopy

We have developed a unique setup for table-top all-attosecond transient absorption spectroscopy, allowing us to study extremely fast electron dynamics in atoms, molecules and solids. Currently, we are developing a new setup for all-attosecond pump-probe spectroscopy based on an ytterbium driving laser operating at 40 kHz. This will enable the investigation of attochemistry in moleucles that can be generated only at low densities in the gas phase.

Attosecond plasma lens

Lenses can usually not be used to focus ultrashort pulses in the few-femtosecond regime. To address this limitation, we developed a plasma lens capable of focusing the shortest man-made pulses, which lie in the attosecond range. This is achieved by generating a hydrogen plasma using a capillary discharge source
