Teaching

Scientists at the Max Born Institute are involved in academic teaching in bachelor's and master's degree programs as well as in doctoral studies. MBI scientists offer regular lectures, seminars and exercises at all three Berlin universities (FU, HU, TU), with which the MBI is connected by joint appointmentsf of professors. The events are announced by the respective university (course catalog, etc.).

An overview of the courses offered by MBI members can be found in the event area of our site. At the MBI, bachelor, master and doctoral theses can be carried out. For students with an interest in experimental work, it is also possible to complete an internship at the MBI.

International Master Program in "Optical Sciences" at the Humboldt University Berlin

At the Institute of Physics of the Humboldt University Berlin, the new Master's program "Optical Sciences" (MSc.) is being offered. This research-oriented degree course is designed for two years and is conducted exclusively in English. In addition to the Humboldt University, all the scientific institutes and facilities of the Science and Technology Park Berlin-Adlershof active in the field of optics and photonics are involved in the degree program, with the aim of providing first-class teaching and training in the broad and exciting field of optical sciences and technology. A focus is placed on theoretical and experimental aspects of the interaction of coherent light with matter.

In addition to the optical groups of HU Berlin, which deal with nano-optics, quantum optics, photonics and ultrahigh-field physics, the following institutes are deeply involved: the Max Born Institute for Nonlinear Optics and Short Pulse Spectroscopy (MBI), the Helmholtz Center Berlin for Materials and Energy (HZB) , the Ferdinand-Braun Institute for High Frequency Technology (FBH), the German Aerospace Center for Optical Sensor Systems (DLR) and the Weierstrass Institute for Applied Analysis and Stochastics (WIAS).
