3.1 Dynamics of Condensed Phase Molecular Systems

Our research on charge transfer in molecular systems with, foundations made in a larger set of activities on photo-induced elementary reactions followed with ultrafast infrared spectroscopy, can be divided - until now - into two major research periods. In the first period third party funding comes from the Leibniz Gemeinschaft (SAW-2016-1, Elsaesser/Nibbering/Rouzée/Vrakking/Woerner, 2017-2020), and an ERC Advanced Grant (XRayProton, Nibbering, 2018-2024). The second period third party funding has been the aforementioned ERC Advanced Grant (XRayProton, Nibbering, 2018-2024), the ITN Network Smart X (Rouzée/Nibbering, 2021-2023), and the Leibniz Gemeinschaft (SAW-2023-1, Nibbering/Rouzée, 2024-2027).

Phase 1 (2017-2021):
Construction of a target chamber for gaseous and solution phase sample delivery, and an construction of a new X-ray spectrometer with reflective zone plate for energy dispersion and a CCD camera for detection. First experiments on the strong field ionization of molecular nitrogen.
