Correlating photoacidity to hydrogen-bond structure

In a joint effort by the Max-Born-Institute (Berlin) and Yale University (New Haven, CT) the O-H stretching mode of hydrogen bonded (photoacid) aromatic alcohols is explored to determine hydrogen bond structural parameters.

One sentence summary
Correlation of the local probe O-H stretching mode frequency with photoacidity, hydrogen-bond distance or local charge distribution is demonstrated for hydrogen-bonded aromatic alcohol-acetonitrile complexes.
