Berlin Laboratory for Innovative X-ray Technologies (BLiX)
About
The „Berlin Laboratory for Innovative X-ray Technologies“ (BLiX) aims mainly the technology transfer between Science and industry. BLiX belongs to one of the five foundation labs of the Leibniz Application Laboratories. The purpose of the Leibniz Application Labs is to combine new research results with practical applications and marketable procedures and products. BLiX is supposed to be a place for collaborative technological developement in the triangle Knowledge – Education – Innovation supporting technology transfer projects in the field of x-ray technologies between partners from small and medium enterprises and scientific facilities as well as education and advanced training.
Background
After a feasibility study compiled by MBI together with the Institute for Mangement at the Freie Universität Berlin and Institute for Applied Photonics, Berlin BLiX was launched in fall of 2009 at the Technische Universität Berlin as an Innovative Lab associated with the endowed professorship 'analytical X-ray physics' held by Prof. Birgit Kanngießer. First transfer activities embeded in the concept of Leibniz Application Laboratory of the Leibniz Gemeinschaft were funded by the "Wirtschaft trifft Wissenschaft" program. The laboratories of BLiX at TU Berlin cover an area of about 250 sqm. BLiX was opened in February 2011 for user access.
