Two paper from MBI published in SCIENCE Magazin - volume 306, no. 5702 (3. december 2004)

Moving nano images: Bargheer et al. (p. 1771) followed the motion in a GaAs / AlGaAs superlattice with time-resolved X-ray diffraction and can directly visualize the lattice motion on a picosecond timescale.

Hydrogen bonding sunscreen: Schultz et al. (p. 1765) investigated protective mechanisms of DNA against intensive UV irradiation on the example of a model base pair. Using time-resolved photoionization, they found that planar H-bonded dimers release the energy within 65 picoseconds after UV excitation - more than 20 times faster than for monomers or larger clusters.
