In this short presentation, I will introduce the concept of laser-induced field-free alignment of linear and asymetric top molecules and its control with tailored laser pulses. We will present the result of two experiments. In the first experiment, a sequence of two laser pulses was used to get almost perfect alignment of a sample of quantum-state selected OCS molecules. In a second experiment, we will show how we can use an elliptically polarized, tailored laser pulse to 3D align a sample of quantum-state selected indole molecules.
