I will talk about my recently finished master's thesis project, where we utilized a differentially pumped hollow-core fiber compression scheme to generate a single-cycle femtosecond IR pulse from a 10 kHz repetition rate Ti:Sapphire laser.  The idea is that such a pulse can be used to produce isolated attosecond XUV pulses via high harmonic generation with 10 times more XUV pulses per second than it has been done so far with a similar setup and a 1 kHz Ti:Sapphire laser.
