Since 2001 in Berlin and Potsdam once a year a "Long
Night of Sciences" is offered, to which the Researchers
of Berlin invite the public. Fon one night - starting early evening
and ending after midnight - universities, and research instiututes
and university clinics are open for visitors and give those who
are interested a detailed view into the world of genes and photons,
into different theories of law and foreign languages, into virtual
realities and quite real technical constructions. During lectures,
guided visits, by experiments, discussions and films a broad range
of people from Berlin and Brandenburg and their guests may discover
the real working environement of scientists. In 2010 more than 40 000
visitors were counted in the participating institutions. Of course
the Max Born Institute also takes part in these events: with an
exhibiton in the Max-Born-hall and guided laboratory tours. Here
