Master Project in Attosecond Science

Stellenprofil: We are looking for a Master student to experimentally investigate ultrafast coupled electronic and nuclear dynamics in nitrogen molecules. The proposed project is based on theory work at our institute, which was recently published. We aim at realizing a two arm molecular interferometer, where wavepackets initiated in different electronic states can interfere constructively and destructively depending on their relative phases. Attosecond Science is an
exciting new research field, aimed at time-resolving the motion of electrons in atoms, molecules and solids on their natural timescale. Such dynamics can proceed on extraordinarily fast timescales.
Anforderungen: The Max-Born-Institute in Berlin is one of the leading research centers in the world for Attosecond Science. We are offering Master projects on a regular basis, on which you work in close collaboration with PhD students and experienced scientists.
We are looking for a Master student to experimentally investigate ultrafast coupled electronic and nuclear dynamics in nitrogen molecules. The proposed project is based on theory work at our institute, which was recently published. We

The tasks of this master project in experimental physics include:
- Preparation of the experiments.
- Data acquisition, evaluation and interpretation in collabor. with experienced scientists.
- A technical project involving the upgrade of our XUV spectrometer.
- Participate in the other ongoing experiments in the lab.
